Beauty Guide : Class #1 Blush, Bronzer & Highlight 101.

So.....This is my FIRST Beauty Guide post, it's All About Blushes, Bronzers & Highlighting!
I hope that you'll find it somewhat helpful & I hope that I can basically brief you through the different product's consistency along with colour selection! Just to basically give you an idea of what it is, what it does along with how to pick the right ones!

Also don't forget to comment your feedbacks/requests down below and I'll try my best to fulfill them!
xx

1) Blushes

It's essential for different skintones to reach for the blushes that will show blushing effect, to add that hint of colour to your face.

Starting off with SKIN TONES, i'll subdivide them into 3 simple groups - FAIR, MEDIUM & DARK.

NARS Orgasm Blush

i) Fair Skin

If you have a fair skin tone, you can basically opt for any blushes ranging from pale pink, peach to somewhat mauve/dusty pink. Even the blush that has not much of a pigmentation will work on you as your skin is basically like a plain white canvas.

My personal fav would be Nars Orgasm, Nars Deep Throat & Maybelline's Cheeky Glow in Wooden Rose.

ii) Medium

If you have medium, you can experiment with pinks but peaches would look great on you. Be careful of the undertone at this point. If you have above a fair skintone, find a blush that suits your undertone. If you have cool skin, find a cool blush. You can see by observing if the blush color (usually pinks) have a bluish tinge to it. Pink peaches like NARS Orgasm are great for medium skin tones because they are a balance of both.

Dark

If you have dark skin, go for bolder blushes with a higher pigmentation with colors such as peaches and reds (lightly applied). Ebony skin should stay away from cool pinks to prevent an ashy tone. The general rule of thumb is to match your undertone to the undertone of your blush.

Picking the Right Bronzer/Contour

Your bronzer can be used as a contour powder. Generally, any shade  1 or 2 shades darker than your original skin color can be used as a contour powder. So that includes mineral foundations, compacts, etc or even cream foundation if done well. However, the tricky part is finding a good shade of brown. Basically, if you are using the bronzer as an all over bronzer, find something that does not have an orange tone to it. You don’t want to look like fake tan.

Fair to Medium – If you have fair to medium skin, you can experiment with BOTH matte and shimmery bronzers.

Dark – If you have dark skin, I would recommend a shimmery bronzer! It'll accentuates your feature even more VA-VA-VOOM!

Bahama Mama Bronzer by theBalm Cosmetics.

Contour

Now if you are using a bronzer as a contour, the best contour powder has a grey tone to it as you are mimicking the colour of shadows which are primarily grey. So you will want to find a bronzer that has a grey colour, is very matte and not orange. ( As that tends to make you look dirty..)

Highlighter

There are so many kinds of highlighters in the market, in variety of consistency!
Ranging from powder (compacted), pigments, cream, fluid even in stick forms!!
Highlighters ALSO have their undertones to corresponds with YOUR SKIN's undertone to work its best! HOWEVER, it really isn't necessary to go by the books. For Beginners, if you want to play it safe TRY something that has a champagne undertone. It really doesn't matter if the highlighter is SOLID or LIQUID! I promise it's easy!

PLUS, you can ALSO highlight your face with only CONCEALER. HOW? EASY.
Simply go with a neutralizing concealer OR pick a concealer that's 1 shade lighter than your face.

Here's a easy trick for highlighting your face with highlighters!
Simply place the highlighter on places where light hits your face – such as nose bridge, cheek bones, tip of your chin and brow arch.
Becca Champagne Pop

My personal favourite is Nars Copacabana Multiple Stick & theBalm's Mary Lou Manimizer (LOVE) oh! don't forget the BEST HIGHLIGHTER EVER --- Becca's Opal & Champagne Pop!

What's in my makeup bag?

A quarter of my makeup collection, & part of my normal makeup routine.

p/s: i'm pretty sure that these products spent most of their time in my makeup bag!

Some of my favourites :
Urban Decay's Naked2 Palette
- having all my favourite shimmering & matte colours, multiple choices of colour combinations for different looks.

The Body Shop's Bronzer
- my 2nd Bronzer, gives very light & natural effect for contouring simply with a light dust under my cheekbones.

Benefit's Fake It Up concealer
-the best concealer I've had so far! It's has the just right texture for concealer, not so liquid-ish nor cream-ish. Perfectly conceals all your flaws! Especially puffy eyes & dark circles.

Maybelline's Mascara, Lip Balms & Gel Liner ( Stiletto Long & Hypercurl)
- the best long & volume-ish lashes I could ever obtain by using this two affordable mascara
-Gel liner ; smudge free, waterproof & easy to apply!
-Lip balms, one of my favourite! Good scent & extremely moisturising!

Canmake's Blusher
- my only blusher so far. My favourite warm pink toned base blusher, sadly the production line for this particular colour ended for some time now. It's one of my really limited edition collection now.

I posted up this photo in my Instagram as a submission to participate in Maybelline Malaysia's giveaway. While sharing all these in my blog, it's liked the first time.

I hope it was a good-brief-introduction of what's in my makeup bag !
